The Ribbon Adjustors

The Kitchen Table as workbench during fabrication of ribbon adjustors.

The ribbon adjustor mechanism prior to installation on crossbar. The large brass screw is a 'lock'. The ribbon will be 1cm wide. The front-to-back screw adjustor is a 20mm x 3mm metric screw with a 0.5mm per revolution pitch.

Rear side detail of adjustor attached to crossbar.

Front side detail of adjustor attached to crossbar. Although difficult to see, note the cutout relief of the aluminum crossbar behind the ribbon.

Front view. Relieved area behind ribbon shows up better.

Top view. Front of adjustor at top. Note slightly darker orange covering on the front and rear bearing tubes - it is 1 mil Kapton tape for electrical insulation. Again, note relieved area of crossbar under the front bearing tube.
