Aura is a vendor of commercial sound (pro audio, sound reinforcement & stage),
OEM,and autosound speakers. Recently, Aura has made a line of standard drivers
available to the DIY market. This is good news since most Aura drivers (certainly
all recommended drivers) use Aura's patened NeoRadial (motor) Technology (NRT). The
NRT is an inherently shielded underhung design with outstanding performance. Among
DIY-er's, Aura's greatest reputation is for its 18" subwoofers. For a while, Aura
stopped selling these, although they were primarily available for a while from
another company under another name. With Aura's new standard drivers, their 18"
subwoofer is back, better than ever.
The NS18-992-4A improves on all
previous
generations of Aura 18" subs with a low 17 Hz Fs, a useful Qts of 0.39, and an
enormous (for an 18" driver) Xmax of 16 mm. Unfortunately, it also carries on
the tradition of being extremely expensive.
