Vendor guidelines - GR Research:

GR Research is a vendor of speakers, speaker kits, and drivers. GR only offers two driver lines, Focal and their own proprietary line. GR's proprietary drivers are all sourced overseas. All represent reasonably good value and sound quality, although there are a few caveats as noted below. GR's proprietary drivers include:
  1. The GR-T1 magentically shielded 1" silk dome tweeter is sourced by TangBand in China. TangBand (TB) is a well-known OEM, albeit one without a particularly stellar reputation. Apparently GR buys TB tweeters to its own QA standards, which helps considerably. Although few other sources of TB tweeters have been recommended, several people have recommended the GR unit. Some have found it particularly useful as a replacement for the Vifa  D27 series, which have QA problems of their own. My respondents report that most of the GR-T1's they receive have had Fs values at or below spec. Those using them as replacements for D27's have reported a much more "relaxed sound" around the crossover region, possibly indicating better excursion capability.  view   response

  2. The M-130 5" mid/bass driver with a coated paper cone, polymer chassis, and phase plug. Like the GR-T1, it comes with a somewhat humble pedigree, being built by Peerless (India). Also like the GR-T1, GR has taken care to specify and select units that make it a more attractive choice. The M-130 is also avilable in a shielded version for HT use, the M-130SH.  view   response
One note, however… Peerless (India) is a complete separate company from the Peerless in Denmark that we're most familiar with.
