AudioTechnology is one of the world's more highly regarded manufacturers of
ultimate quality drivers - its Flex Units series. Since the company employs the
talents of Ejvind Skaaning, a founder of both Scan-Speak and Dynaudio, some of its
drivers are sold into the DIY market by Madisound under Skaaning brand name. Three
Skaaning branded products are currently available. For more information on
AudioTechnology Flex Units, see the
recommendations in
Section 2.
- The SK130-308 is an 8 ohm
version of the 5" AudioTechnology FlexUnit. The FR curve is +/- 2 kHz
from 100 Hz to 1 kHz, with a 3 dB peak extending to 5 kHz,
and generally well-behaved roll off above that. The impedance curve is
essentially flat above the resonance peak out past 10 kHz. Note that my
respondents have recommended the similar Audio
Technology 4H521306 as superior.
